What a difference a century makes!
Here are some of the U.S. statistics for the year 1905:
The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years.
Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.
There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads in the U.S.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California.
With a mere 1.4 million people, California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower.
The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents per hour.
The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

It was so cold and windy at Montano de Oro yesterday afternoon. But we went anyways since it wasn't raining anymore. I had so much fun exploring and running around everywhere. It feels good to act like a kid every once in a while. So here's my pics of the ocean and tide pools!
I thought I might put up these pics as evidence of my cooking catastrophe. The yellow stuff got everywhere. I washed so many dishes and have been noticing more that should be cleaned. Now, I just wipe down the table or wash my cups before using anything. It's weird to think that in just a few hours the place looked normal again. A dirty sink always bugs me and seeing it this bad shows what we had to work with. I broke that vase in the corner of the picture and ended up cutting my knee on a sliver of glass when I was cleaning under the oven. The burn on the stove probably took the longest to clean, but I was willing to work extra hard so we wouldn't be charged for damages. And I like the last one since you can see all the footprints.
